Start Off on the Right Foot
One of life’s most important lessons is learning how to manage money. Schools don’t teach it and sometimes parents take it for granted that kids will figure it out for themselves. At NMTW, we consider financial education to be paramount to the success of our members. That’s why we offer a youth program to help our young members start off on the right financial footing.

Young people can start with a savings account to accrue their allowance, birthday cash, babysitting and paper route money. Once you have accumulated at least $100, you may want to open a Starter CD. It offers a low minimum balance, earns a high rate, and allows for additional deposits too.

Every November 7th and 8th graders can compete in a Student Essay Contest sponsored by the Massachusetts Credit Union League Inc and Massachusetts Credit Union Share Insurance Corp. You could win one of several U.S. Savings Bond prizes and a trip to the State House for commendation!

As you get older, we offer a Youth Checking account package that includes a debit card for super easy access to your money. Use your debit card at the mall, at thousands of surcharge-free ATMs, or even at McDonalds® Best of all, Home Banking is FREE with every account. Check your account balance, pay your bills, and even get your statements any day, any time, for FREE online.

Saving for your first car? We offer low rates on auto loans. Our Auto Advisor service is also available to make that first car purchase a little less intimidating – and ultimately less costly.

For the college bound, we offer student loans and an Annual Scholarship Program to make increasing education costs easier to manage.

There are accounts and services to grow with you and help you adjust as your finances gradually become more complicated. As you begin to work a steady full or part time job, consider adding direct deposit to access your funds faster and electronically divert a portion to savings so you can get in the habit of saving on a regular basis.

And to help you adjust to new responsibilities, we offer account alerts that you can send to your cell phone or computer to remind you when bills are due, your check has been deposited and even Mom’s birthday.

Contact us or give us a call at 1.800.942.9575 for more information on these and our other services.
